A false start…

Patterns to be checked, interviews and articles not recieved yet, and Christmas approaching too fast.  The first issue of The Quarter Inch will now not be out until the New Year.  I feel that to go to press now would be rushed, and to leave it any longer means overseas readers won’t get a copy until after Christmas.

The content so far is fab, so please bookmark us and come back in Januray when the finishing touches will be done…

Busy Writing

Production on the Zine is ticking along well.  Patterns are being tested and I am in the process of doing my favourite job – selecting the fabric to go on the cover!

Photo’s will be posted on here soon…

Just dropping in to say the Zine is coming along well.  We are busy interviewing, writing patterns and doing that oh so hard job of researching what new fabric to have featured on the front cover of the first issue!

Sarah Quilter is reviewing the Festival of Quilts for the Zine this weekend, so if you are going and have any comments on any aspect of it drop by her blog and leave her a comment – we’d love to hear from you.  I am making the epic journey there on Sunday wearing comfy shoes and carrying a big shopping bag!

Happy Quilting – we’ll be back with more info at the beginning of September.

Submissions Please!

The Quarter Inch is seeking submissions for it’s first issue.  The Zine is a DIY publication written by quilters so we would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions.  Ideas for articles we are currently seeking are below, but if you have any other suggestions, then we’d love to hear from you.

Patterns, this is the starter issue so anything for those new to quilting, or perhaps a quirky technique to push the boundaries of those acomplished stitchers

Interview with a store owner, how they started what they are doing, what tips they have, what ranges are selling well.  It would be good if they have a website for readers to link to.

Review a fabric range

Jury’s Out column –  are there any issues you would like to discuss within quilting.  Perhaps you would like to write an article about hand sewing vs machine piecing, or about whether or not to display your work at quilt shows

All ideas for submissions need to be receieved by 20th August, with the final piece written by 10th September.  You can either leave a comment on here and I’ll get in contact, or email thequarterinch@hotmail.co.uk.  We are so sorry we cannot pay for submissions at the moment as we don’t have any advertising in our first issue yet, and if we do get any it will go towards the cost of printing.  However, you will get a free copy of the Zine, plus a plug for your blog/etsy store/website or anywhere else you may sell you work.

Other articles currently being written are:

Book Reviews

Review of the Festival of Quilts

10 ways with Suffolk Puffs/Yo Yo’s

A true beginners pattern – with feedback from a non quilting busy working mum of 2

and each issue will have a cocktail recipe named after and inspired by a quilt block!
Hope to hear from you soon!

The Quarter Inch is a new and exciting Zine all about Patchwork and Quilting.  We aim to inspire, educate and more importantly entertain.

The Quarter Inch is aimed at contemporary quilters.  We do not divide the traditional and art groups, we believe that all quilters can be inspired by work from both groups.

The Quarter Inch will be published three times a year.  Our first issue is published in October – if you wish to be put on our mailing list to let you know when it is released, please leave a comment on the blog, or email thequarterinch@hotmail.co.uk

Thanks for visiting!
